“ | There's a difference between the Narrative and the Narrator. The people writing us are Narrators, but so are we. Sinclair's actually been able to pinpoint instances in which the narrative focus shifts away, if only briefly. You know what happens? |

Summary
SCP-001 (I.H. Pickman's Proposal) is one of the SCP-001 proposals of the Foundation. This proposal is one of the depiction of the Foundation universe as fictional. But while S Andrew Swann's proposal depicts the world as being dominated by omnipresent and potentially malicious writers, Pickman's proposal instead theorizes the existence of a constant across the universe. A narrative causality constant that forces the universe to act according to narrative rules. This constant was also noted to be a sentient and possibly sapient force, capable of feeling pain from narrative anticlimaxes and possessing some degree of a sense of humor.
Later interpretation of this entity usually do not contradict the existence of Swann Entities. Pickman's Proposal is depicted as having been created by Swann Entities and continuously micro-managing each individual narratives in order to make it follow its story structure even when the authors are not paying attention to the narrative. It is considered to be the same construct as the Universal Narrative or α featured in later Pataphysical models.
Powers and Stats
Tier: Low 2-C | High 1-A
Key: Article Canon | Extended Universe
Name: SCP-001 (I.H. Pickman's Proposal), Story of Your Life, Universal Narrative, α, Patasphere, Fictional Dimension
Origin: SCP Foundation
Gender: None
Age: Unknown
Classification: Archon Class Anomalous Entity, Narrative Causality
Powers and Abilities:
- Abstract Existence (Type 1; Exists as narrative causality)
- Causality Manipulation (Is causality itself, controlling events to match those of fictional works)
- Plot Manipulation (Is the very plot of the universe and manipulates every action within it)
- Reality Warping
- Probability Manipulation (Can manipulate probability to some minor degree)
- Law Manipulation (Is a constant of the universe)
- Fate Manipulation
- Creation (Can create nonsensical entities in the case of an unsatisfying narrative)
All previous abilities on an unfathomably infinitely higher degree plus:
- Beyond-Dimensional Existence (Type 2; Exists far beyond the Noosphere)
- Transduality (Type 2)
- Acausality (Type 5; Determines the causality of even things affecting the Noosphere and thus exists far beyond its scope)
- Information Manipulation (Both Types; Exists as information manipulating physical reality)
Attack Potency: Universe level+ (Is narrative causality itself, manipulating the causality of the entire universe in order to make it act as a fictional work. Exists as the fabric of the universe)
Attack Potency: High Outerverse level (The Universal Narrative is the fictional dimension of a given universe, being described as the "infinitely complicated story" of which all lower levels of reality are simply imitations[1] and the "set of all possible stories" that contains all versions and variations of all objects in a canon,[2][3] as it exists as the canvas on which author-entities impose their will. This includes the Noosphere, as well as SCP-5800, an ecology of anti-ideas set in an infinite hierarchy based around the platonic forms of aleph numbers [4] of which even the weakest can consume the Noosphere entirely overtime,[5] as the Patasphere also lies on a level beyond all ideas above standard conceptualization.[6][7] It also includes and contain the Semiosphere, the set of all human senses which also dictates the logical framework of the timeline and Surrealistic anomalies, which operates under entirely different logical frameworks than regular human logic[8])
Speed: Nigh-Omnipresent (Exists all over the universe) | Nigh-Omnipresent (Exists all over the narrative)
Lifting Strength: Unknown | Unknown
Striking Strength: Unknown | Unknown
Durability: Universe level+ | High Outerverse level
Stamina: Infinite
Range: Universal+ | High Outerversal
Standard Equipment: None notable
Intelligence: Possibly Nigh-Omniscient (Determined to be sentient, as well as possibly Sapient. As it controls causality itself, it should know about everything going on in the universe at once)
Standard Tactics: SCP-001 simply manipulates causality in order to structure the universe to act similarly to a fictional universe when SCP-001 (S Andrew Swann's Proposal) is absent
Weaknesses: Can feel pain from particularly bad anti-climaxes. Lampshading certain narrative elements can cause it more pain, forcing it to retract certain modifications it created. It can be exploited to effectuate certain changes to the benefit of others
- Controls the entire narrative's causality
Notable Attacks/Techniques:
- Narrative Causality: SCP-001's existence is that of narrative causality, a constant that forces the universe to follows literary tropes and other behavior common in fiction. This includes the manifestation of convenient solutions to problems when brought up, ironic events following a statement or others. It can also cause events to be more likely to succeed if many people believe in them, or granting periods of respite after major traumatic events. It is capable of feeling pain from anticlimactic events or other events going against the narrative. This will usually cause a degradation of local reality and the manifestation of nonsensical powers or entities. Pointing out incoherency or contrivance in a negative tone is usually enough to cause those manifestations to go away.
